Sarah Braizear 1829 Start

Summer is passing by so quickly.  We have taken a few lovely trips to various locations, and I am feeling very rested.

Life has given me more time to stitch, and I appreciate it so much.

Here is some of my work on Sarah Braizear 1829.

I am stitching this sampler on 36 count summer khaki linen using the called for AVAS silk threads. What great fun it is stitching this one!  I have also completed the undulating vine across the top of it, but unfortunately I just don't have a photo of that progress.  This is a large sampler with a stitched area of approximately 30 by 30 inches.

Finally, last week we visited Lake George in the Eastern Sierra Mountains of California.  What a lovely place it is!  It is incredibly idyllic and peaceful there.

Thanks for stopping by today. Happy Stitching!

Back to the Routine

Sigh. Summer is over for me.

I returned 'unofficially' to work over two weeks ago, and I returned officially a week ago today.

Bye, bye summer. You were so relaxing....no stitching done for a few weeks now.

Updates on my Minnesota sampler are coming as well as a framed family heirloom --the sampler made by my Great Great Grandma in 1849.

Hope you're enjoying summer, if it's still summer where you are.

Sweet July- Quaker Diamonds Progress

Time is flying by quickly, and soon I will back at work. I have not been a very good blogger, have I?

I have managed to stitch a few hours during June. I also dragged out my old rotation notebook, so now I can track stitching time and spend a bit of time on each of my five projects.  One or more was started back in 2003 or perhaps earlier, so I guess it's time to get moving on those very old ones.

Here is a recent photo of Quaker Diamonds. I've done a bit more work after this one was taken, but you get the idea of how it's coming along. It's a fun stitch!  Please forgive the quality of the photo:

During June we took a short road trip across our state and into another state. It was a great time, but I am such a homebody I am always thrilled to get home.  I didn't stitch on my trip, in case you were wondering. I did bring it along 'in case', but never had the chance.

Some photos of our trip:

A beautiful planter at one of the places we stayed. I hope to do these sorts of succulents in one of our planters.

Homes in San Francisco- love the colors

A fun place to eat in Carmel

Dogs are allowed everywhere in Carmel.  Here's a pooch enjoying
a meal with its owner.

Even though it was fun to get away, it was grand to come home. We've been working in the yard a lot this summer, and we're enjoying all the colors out our window.

Thanks for stopping by today. What are you working on lately?

Summer Break

My summer break begins...again. Need I say more? I like what this author said:

Here's to a nice break for those of you who have one this upcoming summer, and maybe a bit of stitching for you and me, too!

Summer is Here, & So Are The Jacarandas!

My summer has begun, another school year is done. Every year it makes me feel a bit like a kid again. Well, maybe a little bit.

I hope to get in lots of stitching time this summer, and I think my first order of business is a bit more work on Quaker Diamonds.

We have lots of home improvement to do too, so we'll see how much time I can spend with a needle in hand.

On top of it, the jacaranda trees are blooming just around the corner. What a fine way to start my summer break. I love to walk down this street and be part of these purple blossoms.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Thinking of A Loved Vacation

Park Guell by Loves2Stitch2

Just sitting here thinking about how much fun it was to visit Spain. I loved going to all the cities we visited, but a visit to Parc Guell in Barcelona was a treasured highlight.

I hope to dig out my stitching in the next few days as I have a few days off.

Thanks for stopping by today!

I stumbled upon this just now and had to share it here. Wouldn't this be a beautiful sight to behold. Bora Bora--what a place!

Thanks, Xaviermaire, for a gorgeous photo.
