Welcome, Summer! A WIP and A New Season

I have been working on Sarah Braizear 1829 for a year now. I am so enjoying her!

Nonetheless, I decided to start two new pieces and I will share those here another day soon.

I have recently retired and am elated to have a new, more relaxed lifestyle.  I loved what I did, but I am now loving this new phase of life. The last month of work was very intense and busy, so it's been refreshing to unwind for the first few weeks of June.

Each end of May and early June we await the blooming of the jacaranda trees in our area.  I took this photo while on a morning walk last week.  They are so wonderful to behold!

Here is a group of photos taken of Sarah B.  This represents the last few months' work.  I have done some satin stitching in the last few months which has been a nice change from the usual stitches.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy Stitching,
Sue

Sarah Braizear 1829 Start

Summer is passing by so quickly.  We have taken a few lovely trips to various locations, and I am feeling very rested.

Life has given me more time to stitch, and I appreciate it so much.

Here is some of my work on Sarah Braizear 1829.

I am stitching this sampler on 36 count summer khaki linen using the called for AVAS silk threads. What great fun it is stitching this one!  I have also completed the undulating vine across the top of it, but unfortunately I just don't have a photo of that progress.  This is a large sampler with a stitched area of approximately 30 by 30 inches.

Finally, last week we visited Lake George in the Eastern Sierra Mountains of California.  What a lovely place it is!  It is incredibly idyllic and peaceful there.

Thanks for stopping by today. Happy Stitching!

Summer Break

My summer break begins...again. Need I say more? I like what this author said:

Here's to a nice break for those of you who have one this upcoming summer, and maybe a bit of stitching for you and me, too!

Summer is Flying By....

Summer is nearing an end for me, and soon I will be back at work full-time. It's been a wonderful summer filled with good times.  Not all summers have been this way in our lives, that's for sure!

Hoping to stitch soon. I finished another afghan square, and am nearing completion on another one as well.

We've visited beautiful spots this summer, and for that I am very grateful. Here's a lovely bonsai tree taken in a Japanese Garden at San Diego's Balboa Park:

We took this photo in July, and it really reminds me of the relaxation one finds in a summer evening. Craving this time right now!
